May Peace be upon you and may you live in Prosperity and Harmony.

Welcome to the Portal of the Public Private Partnership Unit of the Prime Minister's Department.

Malaysia's development efforts have always been premised on a pro-business strategy, where the private sector plays an important role in stimulating economic growth, with the public sector ensuring overall macroeconomic stability and a conducive environment for both foreign and domestic investments. The Government's involvement with the private sector began in the eighties with the launching of the Privatization Policy in 1983, aimed at promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors, to enable these sectors to operate as a Malaysia Incorporated company. The privatization programme resulted in the private sector undertaking large investments, particularly in transportation, telecommunications and energy. As infrastructure development is a key component to unlock potential economic activities and support sustainable economic growth, the Government will continue to place emphasis on infrastructure development as part of our economic transformation.

It is in this context that the Public Private Partnership Unit was established in April 2009, under the Prime Minister's Department, to further spearhead private sector participation and stimulate private sector investment through public-private partnership (PPP) in the national development agenda. This Unit is the central agency tasked with the responsibility to plan, evaluate, coordinate, negotiate and monitor the implementation of PPP projects. This Unit also manages and evaluates projects that require funding from the Facilitation Fund, a Fund specially established to stimulate private sector investment and bridge the viability gap of projects that have strategic impact.

In addition to driving economic transformation through strategic PPPs, this Unit is also the administrator for Corridor Development Projects in five regions throughout the nation i.e. Iskandar Malaysia, Northern Corridor, East Coast Economic Region (ECER), Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) and Sabah Development Corridor (SDC).

This Portal contains a wealth of information relating to the Public Private Partnership Unit, implementation of PPP projects, Facilitation Fund and Corridor Development. It also provides information on the Unit's latest activities and initiatives.

It is my sincere hope that this Portal will be of benefit to you. We always welcome feedback and views from you towards enhancing the spirit of partnership and making this Unit a more effective and efficient organization.

Thank you.
